After processing the emotions in a group environment, security can be offered through solution development. In the same group, try and come up with ways that you can make a change that feel achievable.
Consider the following questions:
- What are changes that I specifically could make to reduce my impact?
- How are these changes actionable and achievable, meaning I will actually be able to do them?
- How would said changes make me feel? Are there co-benefits to making said change?
- What are changes that I could make that could fight against major contributors to climate change?
By feeling the negative emotions in a group environment, it can feel much safer to find positive emotions in a group environment as well, in turn, pinpointing areas of real contribution. This is as opposed to what is described on the first page, trying to free oneself of fear in a way that can actually create more fear! Effective change requires some discomfort, but once again, to avoid the hole of climate anxiety or any society related anxiety, it must be done in a way where it can be picked up, put down, and lead to concrete solution generation.
